About this chapter

What this chapter covers

PRINCE2 Practices is 60% of the PRINCE2 7 Foundation exam, about 36 of the 60 questions. It is by far the largest chapter, so most of your study time belongs here.

It covers the two umbrella management products, the project initiation documentation (PID) and the project log, and then the seven practices: business case, organizing, plans, quality, risk, issues and progress. For each practice the syllabus asks for its purpose, its links to the principles, its management products, its key terms, its guidance and its technique.

Questions test purposes, definitions and which management product holds which information. Expect many "which product" and "which role" items, and missing word questions built from the purpose statements.

The first four practices define the project and its baselines. Risk, issues and progress keep it under control, recording day-to-day information in the project log and the agreed approach for each area in the PID.

Exam tip

Each practice has a one line purpose. Learn all seven: missing word questions are often a purpose statement with the practice name removed.
