About this chapter

What this chapter covers

People is 14% of the PRINCE2 7 Foundation exam, about eight of the 60 questions. People became one of the five integrated elements in PRINCE2 7, so this chapter is new compared with older editions of the method.

It covers the organizational and project ecosystems, change management, stakeholders, culture, collaboration and co-creation, leadership and management, communication and effective teams. It also covers two parts of the PID that support people (the change management approach and the communication management approach) and how the people element links to the principles, practices and processes.

Questions are mostly definitions and "which statement is correct" items. Many hinge on one contrast: people working inside the project versus people affected by it, or leadership versus management.

How the topics fit together

Organizational ecosystemProject ecosystemProject teamStakeholdersEngagement and communicationChange managementOutcomes and benefits

The project sits inside a wider organizational ecosystem. Outputs only turn into outcomes and benefits when the people affected adopt the change, which is why engagement, communication and change management matter.

Exam tip

If a question asks why a project with perfect outputs still failed to deliver benefits, the answer is almost always about people: the change was not adopted.
