About this chapter
What this chapter covers
Agile Frameworks/Methodologies is 20% of the CAPM exam. Its five tasks are: explaining when an adaptive approach is appropriate, planning project iterations, documenting project controls for adaptive projects, explaining the components of an adaptive plan, and preparing and executing task management steps.
The CAPM references include PMI's Agile Practice Guide. Questions test the ideas behind agile, the main frameworks (Scrum, Extreme Programming, Kanban and SAFe) and the tools agile teams use to plan and track work.
How the topics fit together
Adaptive projects deliver in short cycles. The team takes the highest priority items from a backlog, builds a working increment, gets feedback and adapts the plan. Progress is tracked with visible tools such as boards and burndown charts.
In agile questions, the best answer usually involves the team collaborating, the customer giving feedback early, and delivering small pieces of value often.
