About this chapter
What this chapter covers
ITIL and other frameworks is worth 2.5 percent of the ITIL Foundation (Version 5) exam, about 1 of the 40 questions. It covers how ITIL fits alongside two widely used approaches: DevOps, for fast and reliable delivery of changes, and PRINCE2, for managing projects.
The syllabus does not test DevOps or PRINCE2 in their own right. It asks you to understand how ITIL collaborates with DevOps practices, why project management matters in ITIL, and how ITIL and each framework are complementary across the product and service lifecycle.
How the topics fit together
A project, often managed with PRINCE2, creates or changes a service. DevOps teams build and release changes quickly and reliably. ITIL guides how the service is managed across its whole lifecycle. The three work together rather than competing.
Many questions in this category turn on the frameworks complementing each other. Options claiming one replaces or conflicts with ITIL are distractors.
