About this chapter

What this chapter covers

This is the largest domain of the exam, worth 25 to 30 percent. It covers deploying and upgrading Windows with cloud based tools, building configuration profiles for every platform, the Microsoft Intune Suite add-on capabilities, and the remote actions an administrator uses to keep devices healthy.

Questions are practical: which tool, which setting and in which order. Knowing what each Intune feature is for matters more than memorising menus.

How the topics fit together

  • Windows Autopilot profiles, device preparation and modes covers choosing how a new Windows device is provisioned.
  • Autopilot name templates, Enrollment Status Page and Windows 11 upgrades covers the finishing touches and upgrade paths.
  • Windows 365 Cloud PCs and Windows Backup covers Cloud PC provisioning and settings backup and restore.
  • Windows configuration profiles, ADMX and Group Policy analytics covers Windows settings, including migration from Group Policy.
  • Android, iOS, macOS and specialty device profiles covers the other platforms and special hardware.
  • Assignment filters and enrollment time grouping covers precise targeting.
  • Endpoint Privilege Management, Enterprise App Catalog and Remote Help covers three Intune Suite add-ons.
  • Cloud PKI, Microsoft Tunnel and Advanced Analytics covers three more.
  • Remote actions, bulk actions, device query and diagnostics covers day to day device operations.
Exam tip

When two features seem to fit, look at the device state. New and unmanaged points to provisioning tools. Already enrolled points to profiles and remote actions.
