About this chapter
What this chapter covers
Develop AI Solutions by Using Azure Data Management Services is the largest AI-200 domain, at 25 to 30% of the exam. It has three skill groups: Azure Cosmos DB for NoSQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, and Azure Managed Redis.
All three can store embeddings and run vector similarity search, which is the retrieval step of RAG. The exam tests how to connect with SDKs, design data and indexes for performance and cost, and run vector queries.
How the topics fit together
Cosmos DB suits globally distributed JSON documents at scale. PostgreSQL suits relational data with SQL and the pgvector extension. Azure Managed Redis suits low-latency caching and fast in-memory vector lookups.
Read the requirement first. Relational joins and SQL: PostgreSQL. Flexible JSON documents with partitioning and change feed: Cosmos DB. Sub-millisecond cache or session data: Redis.
How to use these pages
Each topic page has the same shape, so you can skim for what you need.
- What it is: the idea in plain words.
- How it works: the mechanism, with tables and examples.
- What to remember for the exam: the facts to memorise and how questions are phrased.
- Common mistakes: the classic traps.
- Check yourself: three questions to test your understanding.
