About this chapter

What this chapter covers

Connect to and Consume Azure Services is 20 to 25% of the AI-200 exam. It has two skill groups: developing event- and message-based AI solutions, and developing and implementing Azure Functions.

AI workloads are often slow and bursty: generating embeddings, calling models, processing documents. Messaging and events let you decouple that work from the user's request, and Functions run code when a message or event arrives.

Service Bus carries messages that must be processed reliably, in order if needed. Event Grid delivers notifications that something happened. Azure Functions run small pieces of code in response to both.

Exam tip

Message versus event is a common exam distinction. A message is a command or data the receiver must process. An event is a notification that something happened.
