About this chapter
What this chapter covers
Configuring Applications for Collaboration is 20% of the ServiceNow Certified System Administrator exam. It covers lists, filters and tags, the anatomy and configuration of lists and forms, form templates and saving options, task management, Visual Task Boards, reports and dashboards in Platform Analytics, and email notifications.
Questions are short scenarios or recall questions: a team needs something, and you pick the feature or setting that delivers it. Expect single-answer questions and multiple-select questions that state the count, such as "(Choose two.)". There are no exhibits.
How the topics fit together
Users find records in lists, open them in forms, and work them as tasks. The platform then reports on that work and notifies the people involved.
- Lists and forms are the two screens users see most. Admins shape both without code.
- Tasks are the shared record type behind incidents, problems, changes and requests.
- Boards, dashboards and notifications keep a team informed about work in progress.
When a question describes a change that should affect all users, think configuration (layout, view, template, notification). When it affects one user only, think personalization.
How to use these pages
Each topic page has the same shape, so you can skim for what you need.
- What it is: the idea in plain words.
- How it works: the mechanism, with tables and examples.
- What to remember for the exam: the facts to memorize and how questions are phrased.
- Common mistakes: the classic traps.
- Check yourself: three questions to test your understanding.
