About this chapter

What this chapter covers

Managing Applications is 10% of the ServiceNow Certified Application Developer exam. It covers what happens to an application after it is built: how it is published and installed on other instances, who is allowed to work on it, and how its source code is stored and shared through Git.

Questions are short scenarios or recall questions: a requirement is described and you pick the install route, permission, role or source control operation that fits. Some are single-answer and some are multiple-select questions that state the count, such as "(Choose two.)". There are no exhibits.

How the topics fit together

Developersadmins or delegated developersBuild appin StudioGit repositorycommit, branchPublish versionapplication repository or StoreInstallother instances

An application is developed on a non-production instance. Delegated Development decides who may work on it without the admin role, and the Git integration keeps its source code safe and shared. When a version is ready, it is published and installed elsewhere.

  • Install questions ask where an application comes from and which role installs it.
  • Delegated Development questions ask which permission lets a non-admin do a task in one application.
  • Git questions ask which Studio operation commits, pulls, branches or stashes changes.
Exam tip

Separate the two flows. Git moves source code between developers and instances while work is in progress; publishing a version moves a finished release to the instances that run it.
