About this chapter
What this chapter covers
Service Portfolio Management is 5% of the ServiceNow CIS-ITSM exam. It covers what the application does, how a portfolio is structured with taxonomy nodes, services and service offerings, the service life cycle stages, the portfolio and service roles, and how the portfolio connects to the CSDM service records that ITSM processes use.
Questions are short scenario or recall questions: a requirement is described and you pick the feature or role that fits. Some are single answer; others are multiple select and state the count, such as "(Choose two.)". There are no exhibits.
How the topics fit together
- Portfolios and taxonomy organize services from broad groups to specific ones.
- Services and offerings are the CSDM records that tickets and requests point to.
- Life cycle stages separate proposed, operational and retired services.
- Roles split who builds the portfolio from who maintains individual services.
When a question asks how to group services for portfolio decisions, think taxonomy nodes. When it asks how to describe different levels of one service, think service offerings.
