About this chapter
What this chapter covers
Automation is 15% of the Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator exam. It covers choosing the right automation tool, Flow (screen, record-triggered and autolaunched flows and order of execution), and approval processes.
Questions are mostly scenarios: a company has a requirement, and you choose the declarative feature or setting that meets it. Writing code is never the expected answer on this exam.
How the topics fit together
Salesforce offers several declarative automation tools. Flow is the main one; assignment and escalation rules handle routing; approval processes handle sign-off.
Workflow Rules and Process Builder are retired. For new automation, the answer is Flow, unless a purpose-built rule such as an assignment rule fits better.
