Salesforce Fundamentals
A team is planning a loan-tracking app on the Platform and sorts its requirements into declarative and programmatic work. Which requirement cannot be delivered with declarative tools alone?
- A. Accept applications at a custom REST URL in the partner's own format Correct answer
- B. Show loans as cards grouped by stage on a Kanban board in a list view
- C. Email the loan officer as soon as a loan moves to the Approved stage
- D. Total each loan's payments in a roll-up summary field on the loan
Option A is correct because exposing a custom REST endpoint that accepts partner-formatted payloads requires an Apex REST class; no declarative tool publishes a custom REST URL. Kanban views in list views, Flow email alerts and roll-up summary fields on a master-detail relationship are all declarative.
An Opportunity save fires an Apex trigger and an after-save record-triggered flow. A builder assumes the flow draws on its own pool of governor limits. How do the limits apply?
- A. Governor limits apply only to the trigger, since flows are exempt
- B. The flow has its own limits; only before-save flows share the trigger's
- C. Both run in one transaction, so they draw on the same governor limits Correct answer
- D. Each gets a full allowance, because limits are tracked per automation
Option C is correct because a trigger and the record-triggered flows fired by the same save run in a single transaction, so they share one set of governor limits. Flows are not exempt, and neither automation gets its own separate allowance.
A discount flow applies rates from a tier table that finance revises each quarter. Each tier has a minimum amount and a rate. Finance admins must edit the tiers in Setup without touching the flow or any formula, and the tiers must deploy from the sandbox to production together with the flow instead of being loaded as data. How should the builder store the tiers?
- A. As records of a custom metadata type that the flow reads Correct answer
- B. As records in a custom object that the flow reads
- C. As custom labels that hold each tier's minimum and rate
- D. As entries in a list custom setting that the flow reads
Option A is correct because custom metadata type records can be edited by admins in Setup, can be read by Flow, and deploy between sandbox and production as metadata together with the flow. Custom object records and list custom setting data are data, not metadata, so they must be loaded separately, and custom labels are text values that do not hold a structured minimum-and-rate pair per tier.
A developer delivered an invocable Apex action and a Lightning web component that is exposed to Lightning App Builder. Which two uses are open to a builder without writing more code? Choose 2 answers.
- A. Drag the component onto a Lightning record page Correct answer
- B. Add the Apex action to a flow as an Action element Correct answer
- C. Call the Apex action from a validation rule's error condition formula
- D. Run the component as a step in an approval process
Options A and B are correct because a Lightning web component exposed to Lightning App Builder can be dragged onto a record page by a builder, and an invocable Apex action appears as an Action element in Flow Builder. A validation rule's error condition formula cannot call an Apex action, and approval processes do not offer a component as a step.
Data Modeling and Management
A finance team maintains a table that maps 40 country codes to tax rates. Formulas and flows read it, and the rows must move with a change set from sandbox to production. What should the admin create?
- A. A custom object holding one record for each country
- B. A custom metadata type with one record per country Correct answer
- C. A global value set that lists the country codes
- D. A list custom setting holding one row per country
Option B is correct because custom metadata types hold configuration records that can be referenced in formulas and flows, and both the type and its records deploy in a change set. A list custom setting (D) is also readable, but its rows are data and do not move with a change set. A custom object (A) would need data loaded separately, and a global value set (C) stores only a list of values, not tax rates.
Sales reps add products to an opportunity, with quantities and sale prices drawn from a price book. Which standard object stores each product line on the opportunity?
- A. Price Book Entry
- B. Quote Line Item
- C. Order Product
- D. Opportunity Product Correct answer
Option D is correct because Opportunity Product (the OpportunityLineItem object) stores each product line on an opportunity, with its quantity and sale price. Price Book Entry (A) only defines the list price of a product in a price book. Quote Line Item (B) belongs to quotes and Order Product (C) belongs to orders.
IT and Facilities both log internal requests with identical fields, but each team needs its own Category values and page layout, and managers want one report covering both. How should the admin model this?
- A. Build one custom object with a Team picklist and dependent Category picklists
- B. Build one custom object with a Team field and Category validation rules
- C. Build a custom object per team and chart both on a dashboard
- D. Build one custom object and give each team its own record type and layout Correct answer
Option D is correct because one custom object with a record type and page layout per team gives each team its own Category picklist values and layout while keeping all records in one object for a single report. Separate objects (C) would make a combined report difficult, and a Team picklist with dependent values or validation rules (A, B) does not give each team its own layout.
A builder has just created the custom object Inspection__c and has not added a single field yet. Which two fields does Salesforce already provide on the object? Choose 2 answers.
- A. Owner, which defaults to the user who creates each record Correct answer
- B. Created By, which stores the creating user and the creation time Correct answer
- C. Record Type, which selects the page layout for each record
- D. Currency ISO Code, which holds the currency code of each record's amounts
Options A and B are correct because every custom object automatically gets the standard Owner and Created By fields, so no field needs to be added first. Record Type exists only after a builder creates record types, and Currency ISO Code appears only when multiple currencies are enabled in the org.
Business Logic and Process Automation
A builder wants a Contact field that always shows the Industry of the parent account, stays current with no flow or code, and is read-only for users. Which field type fits?
- A. Lookup Relationship
- B. Roll-up Summary
- C. Auto Number
- D. Formula (Text) Correct answer
Option D is correct because a formula field is calculated on read, needs no flow or code, and is read-only. A Text formula can return TEXT(Account.Industry) from the parent account. A lookup is editable, a roll-up summary needs a master-detail relationship and summarises children, and Auto Number only generates sequence values.
Support reporting needs a Number formula field on Case that shows how many days have passed since CreatedDate, ignoring the time of day. Which formula returns that?
- A. NOW() - DATEVALUE(CreatedDate)
- B. TODAY() - DATEVALUE(CreatedDate) Correct answer
- C. TODAY() - CreatedDate
- D. DAY(TODAY()) - DAY(CreatedDate)
Option B is correct because TODAY() returns a Date, and DATEVALUE(CreatedDate) turns the Date/Time into a Date, so subtracting gives whole days with the time of day ignored. NOW() minus a Date mixes a Date/Time with a Date, TODAY() - CreatedDate mixes a Date with a Date/Time, and DAY() of each date only compares days of the month.
A Text formula field on Case must show a link labelled Open Account that opens the case's account record in a new browser tab. Which formula does this?
- A. IMAGE("/" & AccountId, "Open Account")
- B. URLFOR($Action.Account.View, AccountId, "Open Account")
- C. HYPERLINK(AccountId, "Open Account", "_blank")
- D. HYPERLINK("/" & AccountId, "Open Account", "_blank") Correct answer
Option D is correct because HYPERLINK(url, label, target) with a relative URL of "/" & AccountId and the target "_blank" opens the account in a new tab. Option C passes a bare Id as the URL, IMAGE displays a picture rather than a link, and URLFOR with the view action takes no label or target arguments.
Support leadership wants a validation rule on Case that blocks any attempt to reopen a closed case but still lets agents edit other fields on closed cases. Which two elements belong in the error condition formula? Choose 2 answers.
- A. ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(Status), "Closed") Correct answer
- B. PRIORVALUE(Status) = "Closed"
- C. ISPICKVAL(Status, "Closed")
- D. ISCHANGED(Status) Correct answer
Options A and D are correct because the rule must fire only when the status was Closed before the save (ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(Status), "Closed")) and the status is being changed (ISCHANGED(Status)), so edits to other fields on closed cases still save. Option B fails because PRIORVALUE on a picklist must be wrapped in ISPICKVAL, and option C would also block edits to any closed case that keeps its Closed status.
User Interface
After the builder created the custom object Equipment__c, it cannot be picked as a navigation item when editing the Field Service app. What is missing?
- A. A Lightning app page for Equipment__c
- B. A search layout for Equipment__c
- C. A custom tab for Equipment__c Correct answer
- D. A compact layout for Equipment__c
Option C is correct because a custom object only appears as a selectable navigation item in a Lightning app once it has a custom tab. A Lightning app page (A) is a page, not a tab, and search layouts (B) and compact layouts (D) control search results and highlights, not navigation.
The builder wants an action on Opportunity that opens a small form for editing Stage and Next Step on the opportunity the rep is viewing. Which quick action type should the builder create?
- A. Log a Call
- B. Update a Record Correct answer
- C. Send Email
- D. Create a Record
Option B is correct because an Update a Record quick action opens a small form on the record being viewed and lets the builder choose which fields, such as Stage and Next Step, appear. Create a Record (D) makes a new record, while Log a Call (A) and Send Email (C) are task and email actions.
A screen flow is launched from a quick action on the Account record page and must update the account the user is viewing. How does the flow receive the Id of that account?
- A. A text variable named recordId that is available for input Correct answer
- B. A text variable named accountId set as the default of the first screen
- C. The flow reads the account Id from the $Record global variable
- D. The flow looks up the account from the running user's Id with Get Records
Option A is correct because a screen flow launched from a record-page quick action receives the current record's Id through a text variable named recordId that is marked available for input. The $Record global variable (C) applies to record-triggered flows, and the other options do not pass the viewed account's Id to the flow.
Support leads want the Close Case action in the highlights panel of the Case record page to appear only while Status is Working. Which two actions does the builder take? Choose 2 answers.
- A. Enable Dynamic Actions on the Highlights Panel component Correct answer
- B. Assign the Support profile a Case page layout without Close Case
- C. Convert the Case record page to Dynamic Forms
- D. Add a visibility filter on Status to the Close Case action Correct answer
Options A and D are correct because the Highlights Panel must have Dynamic Actions enabled before individual actions can carry their own visibility rules, and a filter on Status = Working on the Close Case action then shows it only in that state. Option B changes the page layout for the whole profile and cannot react to field values, and option C converts the field area to Dynamic Forms, which does not control the highlights panel actions.
App Deployment
A builder finished and tested a new custom object in a Developer sandbox and must send it to production with a change set. Which two steps complete the move? Choose 2 answers.
- A. Install the change set in production as an unmanaged package from a generated install link
- B. Create a matching outbound change set in production that names the sandbox as its source
- C. Upload the outbound change set to the production org Correct answer
- D. Deploy the uploaded change set from the Inbound Change Sets page in production Correct answer
An outbound change set is built and uploaded in the source org. It then appears under Inbound Change Sets in the target org, where an administrator deploys it.
Before go-live, the project sponsor wants user acceptance testing in an environment that holds every production record along with the full configuration of the org. Which sandbox type should the builder request?
- A. Developer sandbox
- B. Full sandbox Correct answer
- C. Partial Copy sandbox
- D. Developer Pro sandbox
A Full sandbox copies all production configuration and all production records, so it suits acceptance testing at production scale. Developer and Developer Pro sandboxes copy configuration only, and a Partial Copy sandbox holds only a sample of the records.
A tester signs in to production as jlee@acme.com. The company then creates a sandbox named uat, and the same username is rejected at the sandbox login page. What should the tester enter as the username in the sandbox?
- A. uat.jlee@acme.com
- B. jlee@uat.acme.com
- C. jlee.uat@acme.com
- D. jlee@acme.com.uat Correct answer
Salesforce adds the sandbox name to the end of every username it copies into a sandbox, so jlee@acme.com becomes jlee@acme.com.uat. The other forms do not match any username in the sandbox.
Which Setup page does an administrator use to create a new sandbox from production?
- A. Sandboxes, under Environments Correct answer
- B. Deployment Settings, under Environments
- C. Data Import Wizard, under Data
- D. Installed Packages, under Apps
Sandboxes are created, refreshed and deleted from the Sandboxes page under Environments in the production org's Setup. Deployment Settings controls change set connections, not sandbox creation.
