What it is
Google offers prebuilt gen AI products that employees can use without any development. The exam names three: the Gemini app (with Gemini Advanced and Gems), Gemini Enterprise, and Gemini for Google Workspace. They differ in where they work and how deeply they connect to company data.
How it works
Gemini app and Gemini Advanced
The Gemini app is Google's conversational AI assistant, on the web and on mobile. People use it to write, brainstorm, summarize, analyze files and images, plan and learn. Gemini Advanced gives access to Google's more capable models and features for more demanding work.
Gems are customized versions of Gemini that you set up once with instructions for a specific, repeated task, for example a "proposal reviewer" Gem that always checks drafts against the company's checklist, or a "coding helper" Gem with a fixed style.
| Business value | Example |
|---|---|
| Individual productivity | Draft a first version of a report in minutes |
| Consistency through Gems | Every sales rep uses the same "objection handler" Gem |
| Low barrier to entry | No setup or integration required |
Gemini Enterprise
Gemini Enterprise brings gen AI and agents to the whole organization, connected to company data and systems. The exam guide highlights:
| Capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Multimodal search | Searches across the company's connected data sources (documents, email, intranet, business applications), including different content types, with permissions respected |
| Custom agent capabilities | Teams create and use agents that automate tasks and workflows across systems, including no-code agent building, alongside prebuilt agents |
| Gemini Notebook API | Named in the exam guide as part of Gemini Enterprise; it brings notebook-style work over a chosen set of sources into the organization's tools |
The business value is finding information and getting work done across silos: an employee asks one question and gets an answer drawn from several systems they have access to, or hands a multi-step task to an agent.
"Search and act across many company systems with permissions respected" points to Gemini Enterprise. "AI inside Gmail and Docs" points to Gemini for Google Workspace.
Gemini for Google Workspace
Gemini for Google Workspace puts Gemini directly into the Workspace apps people use every day:
| App | Example of what Gemini does |
|---|---|
| Gmail | Draft and refine emails, summarize long threads |
| Docs | Write, rewrite and summarize documents |
| Sheets | Help organize and analyze data |
| Slides | Create images and help build presentations |
| Meet | Take notes and summarize meetings |
| Gemini side panel | Ask questions across your files and email from inside the app |
The business value is productivity without changing tools: adoption is easier because the AI appears where the work already happens, and it respects Workspace's existing security and data controls.
Choosing between them

| Need | Best fit |
|---|---|
| A general AI assistant for an individual, or a reusable custom assistant | Gemini app with Gems |
| AI help while writing emails, documents and in meetings | Gemini for Google Workspace |
| Search across many company systems and agents that act on them | Gemini Enterprise |
A worked scenario
A consulting firm rolls out Gemini for Google Workspace so consultants summarize client email threads and meeting notes. Partners create Gems for proposal reviews. The firm adds Gemini Enterprise so staff can search past proposals, the CRM and the project system in one place, and use an agent that drafts a statement of work from the CRM record.
How the exam asks about this
- "A reusable, customized version of Gemini for a repeated task." Gems.
- "Summarize email threads and take meeting notes in the tools staff already use." Gemini for Google Workspace.
- "Search across documents, intranet and business apps, and build agents." Gemini Enterprise.
What to remember for the exam
- Gemini app: conversational assistant; Gemini Advanced adds more capable models; Gems are reusable custom versions.
- Gemini for Google Workspace: Gemini inside Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Meet.
- Gemini Enterprise: multimodal search across company data, custom and prebuilt agents, and the Gemini Notebook API.
- These are prebuilt offerings: value without development.
Gemini for Google Workspace works inside Workspace apps. Searching and acting across many non-Workspace business systems is Gemini Enterprise.
Common mistakes
Confusing Gems with agents in Gemini Enterprise. Gems customize the Gemini app for a task; Gemini Enterprise agents work across company systems.
Building a custom app for a need Workspace already covers. Prebuilt offerings deliver value faster.
Ignoring permissions. Gemini Enterprise search respects users' existing access rights.
